Buffalo was the mainstay for food, clothing and shelter of most Western and Midwestern Native American tribes.  One of the hunting methods they used was to set fire to prairie grass to drive the buffaloto where they could be killed more easily. This original oil on canvas painting depicts such a hunt. Dan Mieduch is considered one of the best and most authentic painters of this genre.
